"Educating Girls is a Real Lifesaver"

Summary/Response

By Hyunsung Cho

The article,” Educating Girls is a Real Lifesaver” by Victoria Brittain and Larry Elliott, talks about poor countries where women receive little education. Women in poor countries have many problems such as disease, infant deaths, and a lot of births due to little education. Thus they need education because it can help the economies grow, reduce the infant mortality rate and improve the environment. In the last 30 to 40years, the countries that have accomplished
gender impartiality have been developing quickly. The poor countries need to change from conservative thoughts that women never need to be educated. Once they get rid of hidebound ideas, there can be equal payment and education. Every year, many children have been killed by infectious diseases. However, although some of the countries remain, they are indicating lower infant mortality rate through school education of girls. Also, the authors discuss
how poor countries in main farming areas such as Africa and southern Asia, are able to offer many opportunities in the development of agriculture though education. This could prevent environmental problems in these regions such as malnutrition and global warming effects throughout the world.
Women should be educated around the world in order to decrease social problems. It is very important for children futures and the equality of sexes as well as national development.
First of all, women’s education plays a pivotal role in children’s futures, mostly, women become a mothers, and mother’s education a degree influences the education of her children. Second, education should be available to women in order to have equality of the sexes. Education provides a lot of information and knowledge, and one will gain understanding of one’s rights and duties. So, women could against an unfair dealing and to claim own’s one a right, also it could fortify equality of the sexes.
Third, women’s education contribute to national development of third-world countries. There are clever people, men as well as women. So, countries should offer women a chance for education, and women’s ability should develop. There are many women scientists in Korea. They have been finding good research results by delicate of women. It contribute to not only one’s own development ,but also national development.
In conclusion, women’s education should be required because it influences families, societies, and nations. It is evident that education needs to be available to women.
